The MeMZ-966 was a model of the economy; underpowered, but absolutely cheap to produce. Consequently it was put in execution in which it hoped the Soviet government to be the first "national" vehicle; the ZAZ (designated often Zaporozhets) - short for the automotive factory of Zaporozhia. The model-line ZAZ cars was thought to be buyable, therefore they were neither safe nor reliable; nevertheless they were a success since people would have something some means of the transport in comparison with ningúno. MeMZ continued increasing its motors, that found applications in other vehicles possible. Interesting, the motor one watches a small piece like the cooled boxer of VW four, unless both banks of the cylinder are to an angle of 90 degrees. As one hoped that the Russian owners of the car made much stay, and the factories car were in short source anyway, this disposition was more practical. Specially if there were four snow feet.
